Let us ‘Put a Spell on You’ when Bonnie Lee Galea and her Jazz in Cheek Quartet bring the stage alive with a plethora of songs from Nina Simone’s catalogue of music.

Gospel, Folk, Jazz, Classical, Blues, R & B, Contemporary & Soul will be showcased alongside stories of the exceptional Nina Simone - “Goddess of the Piano” and “High Priestess of Soul”.

Born in 1933 in North Carolina, Nina was playing piano by 4 years of age. By the early 1950’s she was singing in New York City jazz clubs where she began developing her own unique style and leaving an indelible mark on the world.

Her passion was classical music, but her livelihood was covering popular songs in her own incomparable interpretations, using music and lyrics to challenge hearts and change minds of her time. Nina’s mesmerising performances included popular hits My Baby Just Cares for Me, I Put a Spell on You, and Lilac Wine, as well as gospel and folk tunes Sinnerman, and I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free bringing people together.
